“The emergence of beauty and goodness in our world requires that we first imagine it to be so. But trauma and shame shatter and atrophy our imagination, leaving us fearful of imagining, let alone naming the beauty and goodness we long for. For new creation to dawn, it must be led by our willingness to imagine a world we cannot yet see. Moreover, once we catch our first glimpse of a newly imagined future, making it more permanent requires lots of practice. And that practice requires perseverance because if we want our imagination to wire for beauty and goodness, we must repeatedly fire it to do so.”–Dr. Curt Thompson
The funds raised at this year’s gala will bring hope, healing, and new imaginative possibilities to hurting youth and families in our community through the following programs:
- Foster Parent Training & Support
- Mental Health Services
- In-Home Family Assistance
SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKER
Dr. Curt Thompson
Author of The Soul of Shame and The Soul of Desire, psychiatrist Dr. Curt Thompson suggests underneath all our longings is the desire to be known, and while this innate craving has been marred by cycles of trauma and shame, healing can emerge from the ashes.
What happens when we come together to imagine a better life for thousands who call our city home?
April 28, 2023 will be an exciting night of exploration and possibility—using our combined imaginations to co-create a community of transformative power with God’s grace, we can help establish an environment where people of all walks of life can become safe, together, healthy, and free!
